Hyundai Kia A4CF1 and A4CF2 Transmission Valve Body Repair Kit
The TransGo A4CF SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit fits 2006 and newer Hyundai and Kia vehicles with the A4CF1 and A4CF2 transmission. Common complaints with this transmission are 2-3 flare, direct clutch failure, erratic shifting, delayed engagements, flares or neutrals during up and downshifts. It may also set gear ratio and solenoid performance codes and have TCC shudder or slip complaints and codes.
This transmission uses a reducing valve in the valve body that often severely wear out the valve bore. The reducing valve regulates the pressure going to all the solenoids, as well as the lock-up control valve (aka damper clutch control valve) as well as pressure control valves A, B and C.
The purpose of reducing valve is to limit the pressure going to solenoids, just like an AFL or solenoid regulator valve does on other units. The reducing valve spring is calibrated to prevent solenoid feed pressure from exceeding a predetermined PSI, no matter what main line pressure is. This is necessary to prevent more fluid from being fed to the solenoids than they can effectively regulate and to limit what max line pressure output is. If the pressure feeding the solenoids is too high or too low, output will also be too high or too low. As a result, shift quality complaints and codes can occur along with low or high main line pressure.
The other issue has to do with the converter pressure regulator valve bore wear. This valve limits the pressure going to the converter when the converter clutch is released and during the apply phase of the lock-up clutch. Consequently, with excessive bore wear, the computer loses the ability to control the lock-up clutch apply rate properly resulting in TCC slip or shudder and TCC related codes.
This TransGo SHIFT KIT® Valve Body Repair Kit includes an oversized USA-made steel reducing valve to completely restore the hydraulic circuit integrity. In order to install this valve, the bore must first be reamed oversized. If you don’t already have the reamer and guides, you will also need TransGo part number A4A6-RV-TK. On the other hand, the new drop-in torque converter regulator valve system does not require any tooling. The furnished bushing, valve, spring and end plug, will restore the torque converter regulator function using existing worn bore.
