This style is preferred because it offers improved sealing capabilities over earlier white plastic-type seals* installed from factory.

High temperature Viton material is preferred in high stress applications to ensure full pressure hold when the TCC converter clutch is applied.

*Earlier white plastic-type will harden and crack with repeated heat cycling resulting in shudder and failure of the converter clutch and other related components.
